Breaking Down to Build Up?
You don’t need to understand Astrology to pick up on the intensity of this moment.
I’ve been reflecting on this week’s waning moon for a while now, watching as it’s nestling up to Pluto in Aquarius and drawing our emotional attention into the depths of our underworlds. Welcome to Taurus Season?! Where is the yummy, luscious, and sensual invitation of this season? You don’t need to understand Astrology to pick up on the intensity of this moment and have a sense that this isn’t your typical springtime frolicking astro.
The blatant T-square formed by Pluto/Moon conjunct opposing Mars in Leo, both square the Taurus Sun as the week progresses, is a mere preview of the coming attraction of the Taurus New Moon on April 27th. If you are willing to go even further, Black Moon Lilith is there in Scorpio, completing a Grand Cross in opposition to the Taurus Sun. She–Lilith, embodies the secretive, dark, intoxicating, enraged, fearful, shadowy emotions that are present in this astrology. I’m not leaning alarmist, but I personally feel a sense of anxious dread when reviewing the current skymap from the POV of the stars looking upon Earth. And I have to ask myself, what part of me is walking the plank that I am grasping from for some semblance of comfort and the status quo?
Battle of the Wills
You see, whether you are tracking the T-square or the Grand Cross, both indicate a radical and potentially volatile change coming to these points in our collective and individual charts. You will definitely see some kind of “pop” on the global stage as the pressure rises and is forced out in some shape or form. Who will take the hit? Who will devise the power play? And within, it is also a battle of the wills, and as I’ve said before, if you look from an inner work perspective, the opposing wills of Mars and Pluto exist inside of you. As above, so below. As within, so without. The heat is rising like a fever pitch to move your needle into a new category of awareness.
When navigating a T-square transit or coming to terms with a natal T-square in your birthchart, you’ll want to look to the opposing sign and exact degrees of the apex of the T-square itself as an antidote to relieve the pressure. A T-square is when the planets in opposition (ie, currently Pluto and Mars) are both squaring another planet or luminary (in our case, the Sun now and soon to be the New Moon in one week from now). Typically, that region of the chart which is opposing the squared planet (Sun and soon New Moon) is a sanctuous place that can offer some clarity, rest, or reprieve. In the case of a Grand Cross, another planetary body is present in that coordinate (Black Moon Lilith is currently here). This leads me to consider a few different perspectives in reading this moment.
Black Moon Lilith
Not everyone considers Lilith. This is kind of her MO and built into her archetype as the one who is dismissed, disregarded, unchosen, exiled, etc. By all means, she is sitting at 2 degrees Scorpio and will move to 3 degrees within the week; her dark mystique and silent power will be deeply felt whether considered or not. And from a paradoxical POV, I can see the perfection in her position. In the T-square version, she is offering a reminder of what is often overlooked and perhaps even a haven of “safety” as she invites you to observe your inner Femme Fatale in the name of liberation. As the fourth diamond in the Grand Cross reality, she may just rear her head and force a Scorpionic recognition from her fellow fixed sign peers of the moment; Mars in Leo at 4 degrees, Pluto in Aquarius at 3 degrees, Sun in Taurus (currently 1 degree and shifting with the Moon as she wanes from Aquarius today toward the Taurus New Moon at 7 degrees in a week from today).
Shedding Skin
In other news, Venus, Saturn, and the North Node are all exact at 26 degrees Pisces tomorrow. This is not Casual, a strong trinity of Love, Truth, and Destiny pulling focus as Pisces encourages a deep shedding of the Virgo South Node skin of control and futile obsessive behaviors. We are in the year of the Snake after all, and I really can’t ask you this enough. What skin are you shedding? What tendencies, gestures, and mechanistic ways of being are you working to slough off as your old self dries up and begins to peel off like a scab that just won’t let go?
These times are for breaking down, dissolving, releasing, and letting go…that is the Piscean way. The 12th house is the kingdom of Pisces and a vast internal ocean that, just as saltwater can purify–washes, tumbles, and pummels the old and outdated notions of the psyche in preparation for the rebirth into the 1st house of Aries. This is the collective moment with so much of our shared process hovering at the threshold between Pisces and Aries. It is palpable without reading the headlines or listening to the overwhelming numbers of conversations chewing on the increasingly grotesque theatrics of our life as human beings in this tragic moment of the global dramedy. And you feel it personally, somehow, somewhere inside you. Why? Because we are not separate as beings in the way typically perceived. And this astrology is playing out in your chart just as it is in mine, only differently. Same, same but different—that is you and me and everyone else, too, makes three.
Embracing Change
What happens after the breakdown? An eventual building back up. We are not yet there and may be farther from that moment than one would like. But this is life, and if you reflect on yours for a moment, the hard times, even the grueling moments of insufferable pain, you most likely have made it through and probably learned a tremendous amount. I am not suggesting that you arrived here totally unscathed, and if none of this is relatable to you at all, as my Godfather would say, time to get a bigger problem. As a fellow human, I give testimony to the fact that the most arduous moments of my life have forged the diamond of my heart like no other. And I wouldn’t change it for anything. So please keep this in mind, and heart too, when lamenting about the state of affairs and/or most likely when the heat gets hotter and the intensity turns up a notch in the coming years. Current times are forging in nature. Resist and you shall suffer, guaranteed. Embrace them, and liberation comes knocking at your door. Even if you severely contest the politics of the moment, etc. I am talking about embracing what is outside of your control as simply what is and turning your attention to what you can work with intimately, your state of Being. Go for it! Herman Hesse’s words ring more true to me than perhaps ever in our lifetime.
“The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas.”
You are the bird, the world will come and the world will go, you will be there. God will be there.
From my perspective, self-responsibility is the key to the mayhem. Do your inner work, refine thyself, and be joyful regardless of whatever swamp of a hell realm you might find yourself in. Whistle while you work, keep your chin up, look to the sun, build a new life from the rubble of the old (this is resurrection day after all), feel your heartbeat, and allow gratitude to guide you home. I love you, keep going!
All my best to you, and please receive the piece of my heart that lives inside these words.

We cannot change the world until we accept we are the world. This is the new conversation.
"...be joyful regardless of whatever swamp of a hell realm you might find yourself in." I adore you for this reminder! Haha.
