Do you remember the bumper sticker “Question Authority”? I do. It was a prized possession of mine as a teen. I never put it on my car; I had it on my mirror in my bedroom, next to my Michael Jordan Wings poster. I looked at it every day as if a higher power always reminded me to ask questions. At this time, I feel very moved to question not only authority but also everything. I love questions, and I relish inquiry. It is a pathway for me to know myself, know the world, and perhaps some corners of the Universe and its Gods...if I’m lucky.
Today’s Full Moon in Leo opposes Mercury and the Sun in Aquarius and squares Uranus in Taurus. Uranus rules Aquarius, adding to the relentless and rebellious yearning for freedom beyond the constraints of mind, rules, and status quo. A Leo Moon reflects the light of the Aquarius Sun, highlighting the importance of community and solution-oriented focus while indicating that the shadow realms of Leo’s desire for attention, fame, and egoic self-absorption are hidden but discoverable now. Saturn trines a retrograde Mars in Cancer, offering a discerning eye of inner authority toward our motivations, actions, and their impact on our emotional well-being. Why do you do the things you do and for whom? Saturn wants to know and assists Mars in investigating the answer. A square between Mars and Chiron could signify that pain is involved in this revealing and healing inquiry.
Stormy Authority
Anyone who is an established authority is subject to blazing interrogation by social media and the masses. What do you think about this? A Leo Full Moon with this current astrological setup is bound to illuminate those in authority that you may feel inspired to question. If you step into a position of authority, you must be able to withstand the storms and speak from a place of authority, and ideally, this place is also rooted in your integrity. If you are in authority and not rooted in integrity, you may still withstand the storms for a period of time, however, your ground may be volatile, and unsustainable—and in some cases, you might, in fact, be the storm itself whipping through society.
Certain groups or members of society question the actions and motivations of leaders; others condone or blatantly ignore them. I crave leadership beyond opinion, deeply authentic, and accountable in self-responsibility. I don’t know if this exists, but I am working on it myself in all realms of my life. Plus, as an astrologer, it is essential to stay outside of my opinion to read a clean chart with as little of my influence as possible.
Personal Grievance
I don’t know about you, but I am tired of hearing astrologers insert their political views into their readings and forecasts as if everyone automatically agrees or should agree with what they say as if written in the stars. Look, the stars are up for interpretation, and I am witnessing a lot of creative license that feels partisan, insinuating the stars are political. I want to add a word of caution and ask you to pay attention to who you listen to and be particular about whom you receive your readings from. Research, go with word of mouth from someone you trust, explore but don’t be naive, or pick someone who “looks cool”, has a lot of “followers” or just says things that make you nod your head. This is important when you are navigating the delicate terrain of the psyche.
Much of what I hear in the social media scene is basic and, at times, correct information yet infiltrated by high personalities working in the entertainment sphere. If you want to be entertained, awesome, but please, don’t make important life decisions based on a podcast you heard. Go inward and listen. Establish your inner compass, seek reflection from people you trust, and work with an astrologer who meets your standards and criteria. If you don’t know what that is, consider this list:
Has studied for ⅓ of their life or more
Is recommended to you by someone you trust
Does not insert personal political views and offers differing perspectives
Gives you agency to receive what feels true and leave what doesn’t
Asks you for feedback if anything doesn’t resonate
Keeps the reading about you
Just to name a few…
Question Astrology?
Although I have seriously studied astrology for over 20 years, and have been learning about this poetic science for 3 decades, I am questioning everything in astrology right now. It feels healthy to go in, tear it apart, test assumptions as truths, throw them into the proverbial fire, and see what remains after the heat of discernment sears through every crevasse. I feel excited about this and inspired. Internally, I feel the nudge to dissect what has been taught and what I’ve picked up, turn it over again, and see what else wants to be squeezed out of each “known”. My heart says there is more; something is behind what is currently known, and I won’t find it “out there”. I can’t say I know what it is, but I am thrilled to maybe, eventually, find out.
What lives beyond what we know about the stars? What is the cosmic curriculum that has yet to reveal itself? Is there such a thing? Could we still be incredibly limited in our authority as astrologers? I think so; I do. And in general, do you feel most authority figures in your life could use a question or three? Or if you are personally in a seat of authority, are you up for questioning your own motivations, the ground under your feet, and getting deeply curious as to what is solid and what feels like molten lava moving you into new pastures of thought, philosophy, or spiritual orientation? This Leo ( Leadership) Full Moon squared by Uranus (Cosmic Rebel) is an excellent time if there ever was one to question authority, and while you are at it, why not question everything?
All my best to you, and please receive the piece of my heart that lives inside these words,
