Turbulence Up Ahead
I’m writing this on a plane, watching the sideways rain pulse in the engine lights from 30,000 ft. We just experienced the kind of turbulence that makes you think about your loved ones and hope you’ll see them again. In these moments, I also think about the current quality of my relationships. Are we close or distant? Could we be in better communication? How am I showing up for the people I love? I want to do better, always.
Turbulence is a good metaphor for 2025. This is just one of those years when we are walking into new terrain and will soon close the door behind us forever. It is a threshold year and a glimpse of what is coming down the pipeline. In other words, change is so near that it is already happening and is not an easy transfer of power.
A (Very) Noticeable Pluto Transit
Let’s explore these power dynamics that began from the periphery of our galaxy when Pluto shifted from Capricorn to Aquarius, from an earth sign into an air sign. Pluto is an outer planet that marks generations as it transits across the cosmos, meaning those born under Pluto in Aquarius have a different mission of potential to resolve and manifest than those with a Capricorn Pluto. For the rest of us, these themes aren’t mapped in our birth chart, but we are living them now in our current transits. The leap from the earth-bound roto-rooting Plutonic political and structural journey of the last 16 years in Capricorn to the jolts of unpredictability and a momentous windstorm of Aquarian Plutonic transformation is noticeable. And Pluto is just the preview of coming attractions.
Beginning of The End, Rebirth
Neptune ingresses into Aries from March 30th until October 22nd this year initiating the prequel to an extended transit of 13 years that begins on January 26th, 2026 until May of 2038. This transit comes with new lessons of deception in tow, requiring all to evaluate our motives and stay vigilant to the motives of those in power. Neptune moves from the watery kingdom of Pisces, which it rules, into the fire sign of Aries, which brings Neptune’s deceptive capacity to a boil. The point at which it hovers over this year is between 29 degrees of Pisces and 0 degrees of Aries, signifying rebirth. What is on the other side of deception? Truth. The point between Pisces and Aries is the end and the beginning of the zodiac and represents a much more significant change in the landscape of the individual and collective psyche. Everyone will feel the impact of these cosmic moves.
Planetary Movements
May 24th, the 0 point of Aries also greets Saturn, who will also give us a momentary feel for the new energetics of the next couple of years before a last perusal retrograding back into Pisces from September 1st, 2025, to February 16th, 2026. Then Saturn will remain in Aries for two, assertive, fiery years. Are you starting to get the idea? When all of these outer and social planets shift from one sign to the next, our world frequency changes, pop culture takes a left turn, political and geopolitical boundaries expand and collapse, innovations arise, old problems require new solutions, and on a personal level, we enter into new chapters of life. In this case, life before 2025 and after, for example.
Saturn in Aries also moves from water to fire, bringing heat to this new beginning. Aries is the beholder of the spark that gives life and initiates, often with a hard head, and plunges into the new without too much forethought. Saturn will bring consequences to that behavior and ask us to consider the effects of our cause. Jupiter is next and the only planet beyond the personal planets to enter into a water or earth sign. Pluto and Uranus (Uranus moves from Taurus into Gemini on July 7th, 2025) are earth to air, and Saturn and Neptune, together, again from the last water sign of Pisces, into the first fire sign of Aries. Let’s observe Jupiter in the Cancerian waters and how amplified the emotional response to the other planets’ influential changes will be.
This year is so utterly significant from an astrological perspective because these changes are collective. Regardless of your birth chart, these transits will impact you somewhere and somehow. The focus moves away from the individual, and we can see the movement as a wave through the many. Knowing where these shifts are happening in your chart is key for your personal navigation.
The First Quarter Moon
Today is the first Quarter Moon. A week after the last New Moon of 2024, and the beginning of the first sprouts of intentionality for this moon cycle. This is when the themes for this cycle begin to take shape as we head into the fullness of next week and the Cancer Full Moon. Now, the Moon is conjunct Chiron (healing our wounds), opposing Black Moon Lilith (denial and betrayal), and both are squaring the Sun conjunct the asteroid Pallas Athena, weaving an intricate moment of challenge and having the inner strength to do so.
How are you feeling at this moment in your life? Have you already felt the rumble of change from the depths of your inner earth? Are you being pulled from your roots and moved in new directions that have yet to reveal themselves completely? Are you facing new and, at the same time, very ancient parts of yourself with more honesty and acceptance or urgency? Me too. It has been challenging over here, and I wish I could say that I see those challenges letting up sooner rather than later. I sense they will continue to morph and evolve as I grow with every step into 2025 and I hope the same for you. If anything, remember this: you are not alone; we are all in this boat together. And if you need to talk or want to learn how to work with this energy for your progress, I’m here and would be honored to work with you.
All my best to you, and please receive the piece of my heart that lives inside these words,
