Beginning Again?
A glorious season to celebrate the cusp between death and birth.
The First Quarter Moon is a time of initiation. It is when the intention of the new moon begins to sprout its first buds. It is a time to walk forward into the moon's fullness as it waxes into a luminescent mirror to the sun a week later. It is the midpoint between the beginning of an idea and its culmination in form. It is the center of the scale and a time of balancing the resources to manifest a dream into reality.
I am writing this in February and preparing for a quest that is not easy to prepare for. When you read this, and if all goes well, I will have already sat on a mountain for an extended period of time. It is strange to be sitting in front of my computer, my heart full of prayer to offer and an open mind of possibility, heading toward a vision yet to be revealed. Remember where you were around Valentine’s Day? For me, that is this moment, one of soul-full searching in the depths of my capacity to relate. It turns out that I have some—capacity, that is. Who else is in astonishing awe of the realm of relationships? Is anyone else working relationship as a path to enlightenment? Consciously or otherwise? If you haven’t considered relationship as your path to enlightenment, this Venus retrograde may give you the jumpstart you need.
Timing Is Everything
So I am here in your past, thinking of you and I, where we will be on April 4th, and where we find ourselves after the recent eclipse cycle of the past few weeks. Time is a funny concept, and when it comes to astrology and fate, timing is everything. Now, you are reading this in “real-time” in the present moment. And I am here, in the past, also in “real-time” in the present moment that is now. Let’s sit with that for a moment…and how both can co-exist. Both are true and yet, somehow, there are 6 weeks between where I am and where you are today.
I suppose these themes of stretching time might be something that I contemplate upon that mountain. I can only imagine how long my time up there will feel like in “real-time.” And, a small digression: what is the opposite of real-time? False time? Where and when is that? Anyhow, I am in a process of preparation, yet there isn’t a whole lot I can anticipate except to walk toward this quest with reverence and a knowing that this is mine to do. A friend of mine asked me recently what question am I taking into my process and I was stunned that I actually have no specific questions around this.
As you might know, I love inquiry; every published journal I’ve written for the last 7 years is a question that prompts an exploration in and of itself. And yet, in the face of the most influential journey I’ve ever embarked upon, I have nothing. And I kind of love that, my heart knows that there are infinite questions awaiting me, and there is no need to bring anything more. I intend to arrive as empty as I can, offering my hands, heart, body, and mind there to do the work that is mine to do and to receive the guidance that is there for me.
Water Into Fire, Winter Into Spring
There is something about this moon that is very poignant for me personally and I look forward to sharing with you just what that is in the near future. I don’t yet know what it is and I hesitate to say much more about any of this as, truthfully, I am heading into the waters of the unknown during Pisces Season and I am coming out in the heat of Aries. Water into Fire, through the vastness of the mystical ocean into the transformative fire of rebirth. It is Spring after all! A glorious season to celebrate the cusp between death and birth, winter and spring, the old and the new and so it goes…
What are you initiating in your life? From what ashes are you rising now? Mercury goes direct in 3 days, Venus in just over a week. The pull back and inward will slowly begin to shift gears into a forward momentum in mid-April, which is exactly what Aries craves. Take a running leap and give it all you got. That is the Aries spirit! Do and think about the consequences later. Rather than asking for permission, ask for forgiveness. I am not saying this is my M.O., but all of you Aries reading this know what I am talking about. You are the pioneers and the courageous ones, brave or just bold enough to dare to step beyond the status quo. After the eclipse cycle we’ve just endured, I think many of you will be inspired to make the changes your soul has been yearning for, and springtime is the perfect time to begin again and reinvent yourself into the new.
