Martial Law?

We are now in Pisces Season, a time of vast expansive explorations between the veils and dimensions of reality. A fluid Piscean permission slip allows us to traverse boundaries and explore the reality we’ve constructed for ourselves. On this Last Quarter Moon, the energy wanes and calls us into an inventory of how the energy of this moon cycle came into its heightened state and what was accomplished, seen, or discovered during the Leo Full Moon. In this period of the moon’s journey, questions are welcomed and reviews begin, initiating a deep shed of the outdated and the out-of-service. The last few days before the New Moon is known as the Balsamic Moon, where we begin to withdraw into the cocoon of contemplation.

Mars goes direct this week, and the reevaluation period of the last 11 weeks comes to a close. What did you learn about your motivations? And what did you glean about the origins and impetus of your actions? Mars retrograde over these months has given you a powerful opportunity to reevaluate what you want and assess your path to getting there. Right now is the culmination of this potent cycle. The true conclusions will be revealed on April 26th when the third and final pass of the current Pluto/Mars opposition comes to fruition. And on May 2nd, we will officially be out of the Mars Retrograde shadow and can then return to our regular scheduled programming, so to speak.

Intense Mars Retrograde Season

Personally, this has been a very deep transit into the reflection, rectification, release, and resolution of various aspects of my past. I’ve been in the process of wrapping up a lot of loose ends so that I may truly enter into the days ahead carrying minimal externalized baggage, concerns, responsibilities, etc. I’m organizing my life around some powerful invitations to go deep within, and Pisces Season is the perfect 12th house energetic to work with for inner quests, to go beyond what is known and commune with the paradoxical profundity of the higher self.

Take a peek at where Cancer lives in your natal Chart. Mars is stationing direct on February 23rd in Cancer at 17 degrees. This is a moment of pause, a last reflection of what you’ve endured on a personal level since early December. For many of you, it has been a very rugged and intense Mars retrograde season. Emotions spanning the spectrum of the human experience have been expressed, from the highs to the lows. Mars is still a bit passive in this water sign and, on April 18th, will move back into Leo, where it can roar and release pent-up aggression.

Signing Off

Fairly soon, I will be signing off and tuning inward for some time. I am pre-writing several journals so you can enjoy our weekly connection without pause. I am coming up on 7 years of sharing this journal without skipping one beat or even a week! And... this 7-year cycle feels quite significant, a time of shedding old cells and rejuvenating new ones. It is the year of the wood snake (I’m a fire snake) in the Chinese Calendar, so shedding skin is apropos. I am having A LOT of feelings about my quest ahead; it feels like a definitive portal of change, and yet I have no expectations. Change is knocking on my door, and it is most likely knocking on yours too. For each of us, the time is now...so how are you preparing to transmute the old and slither into the new?

A Moment of Gratitude

Many of you reading this are friends and/or clients—others of you I’ve never met. I want to thank you for being here. And thank you for reading these weekly journals full of my personal inquiries and thought processes explored through the vantage point of the cosmic lens of astrology. I write these in reverence to the craft of this poetic language that has my heart. It is my intention to share my experience as an example or as a provocation for exploring your own astrology of the moment and how the current transits are impacting you in your unique way. I feel fortunate to spend hours every day with extraordinary people like you, sharing in great depth the intimate and magical realms of the Mystery. That is how I spend my work days—exploring. Astrology Insights

The road ahead looks bumpy! I want to give you a heads-up for March and April. As I mentioned, I will be offline for all of March, but I am sure I will be traversing this turbulence just the same. Venus goes retrograde from March 1st until April 12th. If the recent Venus retro shadow since the end of January has been an accurate preview, we are in for some deep relational excavating, not to mention the reassessment of your finances and resources and getting your priorities in alignment with your values. Nothing like feeling a deep squeeze to motivate you into tip-top shape!

Lastly, Martial Law is when the Military takes over our civil liberties for some time. I sense we could see this in the coming years in the US as the very structure of Democracy changes with the times and morphs into a new form tbd. As a yoga teacher, I often taught about the need to bring more awareness to the moments of transition between postures. It is there where a loss of consciousness can lead to injury. Transitions can be challenging as you are not where you’ve been and not yet where you are going. And this can feel daunting until one day you recognize that your life is a series of one transition after the next, that is, if you are here for change. If you are not here for change, what are you here for? It is an honest question, one with an infinity of answers, and I would love to hear what yours is. In other words, the collective is in transition and it is important to stay vigilant through the process and not fall asleep or go numb, either of which could lead to debilitating injury.

I digress, and Mars is going direct—a shift worth celebrating! Mars has been a tough love teacher during this retrograde, calling us into some hard work that you would have rather not had to do. Mars asked us to face safety and security fears and consider what those concepts really mean. Mars is rugged and brave; Mars is the warrior within us. My hope for you is that you’ve utilized the past 11 weeks to develop your own “Martial Law”, one that is stronger, more sovereign, deeply capable, and available for you to navigate the years ahead with both power and finesse. It appears that all of this is training anyhow, for what, I do not know…
